Suzie over at "Su Sews So-So" has this great little series of posts called "I made it... AND I wore it" where she shares how she actually wears the items she makes after the initial post. I thought this was a great idea so, I thought I'd share how I wore a self-stitched item today and how the outfit came about.

Mad Men fans, have you seen the new
Esquire? Your leading man is on the
cover! Brandon's copy arrived in the post today and I quickly noticed the jacket Hamm is wearing. It's a grey glen-plaid with what almost looks to be a bit of pink. My reaction? "Look at that. I guess my
glen-plaid skirt is right on-trend."
The jacket is paired with a classic light blue button-front shirt. So, when we went out today, guess what I wore...

Who would have guessed my first Mad Men-inspired outfit would be a menswear look!? |
Yep! I threw on my latest Simplicity 2451 and a light blue shirt. Comfortable, yet put-together. Definite win!
How do you wear your self-stitched looks? Please share! x
That's a great look! Good to know that Mad Men's leading men can inspire us just as their leading women inspire us. The blue button up is a pretty look with the glen-plaid skirt.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam! I love so many of the costumes, mens' and women's. I'm catching up on the show just for the inspiration.
DeleteI love this together! It looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ginger!
DeleteWoo! I was so chuffed when I saw that my little series inspired you to do the same!! And that outfit is a definite win - a gorgeous pairing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great little series! My outfits aren't as interesting so I won't show them all but; when one is inspired by something in particular, I may take your lead again :-) And thanks!
DeleteI love this look, isn't it funny how women can easily pull trends from menswear? I think it is much easier as the "metro" look has become popular. There are a few self stitched items that I wear all of the time. My brown pencil skirt (since it is such a staple item) and my pendrell blouse that I adapted following Casey's tutorial.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I agree that the "metro" look does blur the lines a bit and make it even easier to steal inspiration from the boys.
DeleteThose are great items! I can see why they'd get so much use!
