Me-Made-May: Days 9-15

Hello again, everyone! So, apparently, there's no method to the madness of these posts. I had intended to do one sooner but, I wasn't feeling well this weekend so, there was nothing to show. I've [technically] still managed to stick with it though. Here are my notes.

Day Nine: n/a

Day Ten: n/a (remember, I only signed up for four days a week)

Day Eleven:
I had started feeling less than 100% by this day so, I opted for the most comfortable me-made item I have (really, it's one of the most comfortable items I own, period!), my navy knit dress.  I had good intentions to have Brandon take my picture in front of our soon-to-be neighbors construction site for the "Ugly Places" challenge; however, by the time he came home, I just didn't have it in me to pose for a picture.

Days Twelve and Thirteen:
Luckily, I know I'm not alone in this statement so, I've decided to count these outfits.  I spent the weekend in tees and me-made pj pants.  It's a good thing I've made more than one pair!  (If you fancy, you can view my old review here.)  I did not take any photos of these days either.

Day Fourteen: n/a

Day Fifteen:
Me-Made-May Day 15
Dress:  McCall's 4440 in apparently impossible to photograph eyelet and cotton
Sandals:  Isaac Mizrahi for Target (circa 2004?)
Accessorized with a bronze crab brooch and pearl earrings.
Finally! A picture!  I felt well enough yesterday to do the weekly shopping but, I still wanted to wear something comfortable.  This casual sundress fit the bill perfectly.  And, hopefully, it's cheerful enough to have kept me from looking too ill in public.  I may have taken the ocean beach theme a bit too far by adding the crab brooch to a seashell-printed dress but, he was a Christmas gift that I hadn't yet worn. And, it made me happy :-)

In other, related news:
I'm sitting this week out on Sew Weekly but, I'll have a new summer top to share.
I will be working on a blouse and a skirt this week... hopefully.
I ordered three exciting new sewing books, the details of which I will share as I use them.
I finally found/bought fabric and ribbon for one of my That's Sew Cinematic dresses, added another to the list, and hope to have another done in time to enter it into Pattern Review's Natural Fibres contest, though this is highly unlikely.
I entered my "two-seam top" into Pattern Review's One Yard contest, just for fun.  Check out all of the creative entries here.  Voting begins tomorrow!
I'm mulling the idea of crocheting lace for one of the TSC dresses and learning "whitework" (tone-on-tone) embroidery for the one I just added to that queue.  Any tips or thoughts?

Yep, I think that covers it.

I hope you're all having a wonderful week!  Happy sewing! x

  1. The navy and M4440 are both very beautiful and they really suit you. The pyjamas are nice too but I hope you're fully recovered soon.

I'm finding it really hard to muster up the enthusiasm to pose for my Me Made photos. I've got plenty of clothes for one a day, but the weather is so rubbish and I'm wearing the same old dresses I was wearing in Feb/March - with a coat over them when I go out...

Good luck with the OY contest.

    1. Thank you, Marianna! I'm feeling much better now.

Bad weather can certainly take the fun out of everything. Perhaps you can challenge yourself to a Me-Made-June or such when the skies are a bit friendlier?

  3. Glad to hear you are feeling better. That is just such a cute little dress! No, the crab brooch is not too much. Besides, if it makes you feel good (and it is legal & moral) go for it!!! :)
